Taurasi is a wine that has its origins in the pre-Roman age: the main vine from which this wine is produced, Aglianico, was once called “Hellenic” to underline its Greek origins. From these origins also derives the surname “Taurasi” linked to the history and nobility of the village. The etymology of the name “Taurasi” is to be found in Taurasia, a small wine village that the Romans made their own after defeating the Irpinia, in 80 AD. . It is currently vinified with the most modern technologies, but always with respect for tradition, so that it is one of the very few Italian wines that requires three years of aging, one of which in chestnut or oak barrels. After four years of aging, it can boast the qualification of “Riserva”.
